Parkinsonia aculeata Mexican palo verde

Spiny, fast-growing and aggressive deciduous or semi-deciduous tree up to 25 ft. tall with equal spread. Typically found in moist valley soils, it may form dense thickets. The yellow flowers are showy and fragrant, blooming spring and summer. The foliage and pods have been used as emergency forage for livestock and are consumed by wildlife as well.
