Low to moderate moisture requirement; generally grows in partial shade. Perennial with yellow or whitish umbel-type flowers blooms June to August. Grows most often among aspen stands, open conifer woodlands, or on brushy slopes in the mid to higher elevations in its range. A palatable species with a distinct licorice-like odor.
