Large, robust, cool season, long-lived rhizomatous sod-former adapted to poorly drained, wetland areas. Prodigious forage producer, medium palatability when actively growing, otherwise only poor to fair. Important for providing cover for wetland wildlife species. Competitive and aggressive on adapted sites. Useful for revegetating riparian areas.
