Cool season, drought-tolerant perennial bunchgrass with a coarse, dense fibrous root system. Most commonly found on thin, heavy soils but also occurs on deeper, coarser sites. Provides good palatability to livestock and wildlife. Useful for controlling soil erosion and improving rangelands.
