Bouteloua eriopoda Black grama

Warm season, drought tolerant, long-lived, stoloniferous perennial adapted to well-drained sandy and gravelly soils throughout the Southwest deserts. Black grama is considered the climax type of some Southwest rangelands and an important forage grass over much of the drier desert grassland range of the Southwest. Highly palatable; however, it does not tolerate heavy grazing pressure.
