Native warm season perennial shrub up to 12 ft. tall. Seeds germinate best following fire. The fragrant flowers have a white calyx with white to pink or dark blue petals. Valuable honey plant and good to excellent forage for cattle, sheep, goats and deer. Occurs on mountain slopes and ridges, in open sun or partial shade; does not tolerate full shade. Most abundant in well-drained and fertile soils.
