Formerly known as Lolium multiflorum. Cool season, annual bunchgrass adapted to many sites where adequate water is available. Establishes quickly and easily. It is highly palatable to livestock and wildlife and is excellent for temporary pasture or early spring growth in permanent pastures. Sometimes used in erosion control blends for quick, temporary cover. A popular choice for winter over-seeding of turf areas in the south and southwest.
