They require moderate water and full sunlight. Solidago rigida form Golden yellow flowers that have flat-topped groups atop tall, hairy stems. They are perennials and bloom from August to October. Their spreading habit often results in large patchy clumps. They usually occur in thickets, grass prairies or open woods where deeper soils are present.
