A perennial native, Rudbeckia occidentalis prefer medium to fine textured soil in full sun to partial shade areas with moderate water requirements. Found in forested areas throughout its range, their tall stalks produce cone-shaped flowers from June to August. They are relatively unpalatable but provide good cover for wildlife.
