Tall, warm season, perennial bunchgrass with dense, deep fibrous root system. Adapted to deep sandy sites but may occur on heavier soils. Extremely palatable to livestock but unable to withstand continuous close grazing. Useful for stabilizing sandy areas or improving rangelands.
